Dragon Tail Braid Tutorial

I’m all about easy braided hairstyles. I love being able to showcase hairstyles that aren’t too intricate and really look so pretty and cute when they’re done! I love that this one can be down without even knowing how to braid the hair!

This is one of those hairstyles that is great for sports or when you want to take a basic ponytail and amp it up a bit! It’s just as cute and pretty as can be!

How to Do a Dragon Tail Braid

Here is a simple and easy6 step-by-step hair tutorial for a dragon tail braid. It’s essentially repeating the same hair sequence over and over again. I just absolutely love this one to pieces!https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-VqnKguGfX/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=14&wp=540&rd=https%3A%2F%2Fmomgenerations.com&rp=%2F2024%2F08%2Fdragon-tail-braid-tutorial%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A27290.5%2C%22ls%22%3A10477.899999976158%2C%22le%22%3A20260.600000023842%7D

Step-by-step:

  1. I start by creating a ponytail in Victoria’s hair. I try to make it on the higher side!
  2. Divide the ponytail into 2 sections – one on top and one on the bottom.
  3. Take the top section and split it into 2 sections and then pull the bottom one up and hair tie the 2 sections (from the top) together.
  4. Repeat this same exact sequence all the way down the ponytail.
  5. Once you’re at the bottom, go back and gently pull on each section to make the ponytail a little thicker

Now it’s called a dragon tail braid because the ponytail/braid should resemble a dragon’s tail when you’re done! That’s how it got the name. You can start higher up on the head, but I personally love to create it on a basic ponytail.

I just love a dragon tail braid and I hope this dragon tail braid tutorial helps you out!!

Hair Products To Use on this Hairstyle

Here are the hair products that I used for this particular hairstyle.

HAIR ELASTICS

These are the Teenitor hair elastics I’ve been using lately. I was recommended to use them and couldn’t wait to give them a try. Victoria’s hair is on the thicker side, so I need to make sure I have hair elastics that will hold the hair and be extra durable. I also want to make sure the hair elastics won’t damage or crease the hair.

best hair elastics
  • Strong and stretchy: The elastics are not so thin that they break when you try to stretch, but they are not so thick that you can’t stretch them properly. They have stayed in very fine, soft hair through days of gardening. Also, they slide off the braids when grabbed and pull off clean. No rolling and catching the hair to make knots.
  • Great deal: This is a great deal on 2000 pieces clear rubber elastic hair bands, enough for braiding different hairstyles. You can keep a couple dozen in your purse, another couple dozen in your gym bag, some in your car…you get the idea. Any time you realize you need a hair tie, you’ll have a stash.

The best part is that you get 2000 for under $7!
